ALL COUNTY SENIOR FOOTBALL DIV 1 CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW ROUND 1

DUNGIVEN V ROSSA

LAST WEEKENDS RESULTS

ULSTER SENIOR LEAGUE

ROSSA V GORTIN

Rossa Seniors got their first win under their belts at a very cold and wet St Marys on Sunday morning.  They finished with a 5 point victory and hopefully will fulfil their postponed fixtures with Latton and Creggan in the incoming week.

U 21 CHAMPIONSHIP

ROSSA V GREENLOUGH

The Rossa U 21’s were in action again at the weekend when they played Greenlough in the first round proper of the Derry U 21 Championship. Rossa came out winners with the narrowest of margins in what was a poor game and a performance that would need improvement for their next game.  The game finished 1,07 to 1,06 with Connor Kearns  bagging the goal and Paul Dillon top scoring with 6 points, three from frees. Rossa now meet Kilrea in the next round of this competition. Date, time and venue are not available at time of writing.

HUGHES / MC ELWEE MINOR TOURNAMENT

Monday 16th March, 7.30pm, flloodlit, at Ballinascreen.

U 14 FEILE

STEELSTOWN V ROSSA

The U14 team  made the trip up to Derry city to play Steelstown in the second round of the Feile minus three players from the team that beat Dungiven the previous Sunday. The referee did not turn up so a replacement referee was found by the Steelstown officials. The game started with the teams being very evenly matched. Steelstown were assisted by  a strong breeze and midway through the first half they scored a goal to pull away from the Rossas. Steelstown went in at half time 1-4 to 0-3 in front. The Rossas came out in the second half much stronger and with the breeze behind them they scored 2 goals and 5 points without reply. Like the week before the more experienced players stepped up a gear and took control of the match. In the last few minutes Rossa let their opponents in for a goal and a point to leave 3 points between them. They held out for a 2-8 to 2-5 win.
A posititve from the match was that the  replacements brought in for the missing players slotted in very well. The team will have to step it up for the next few matches if they want to progress in this competition.
A special thanks must go to Steelstown who played an extra 10 minutes each way so that all the subs could have a game. This was very evenly contested between the two teams.
